Blue Rock are a 2 piece band that plays their own brand of blues with a rock edge in Sydney, Australia. The band features Caelan who sings, plays guitar and the drums with his feet (via 6 foot pedals) all at the same time. The use of complex beats on the foot drums in conjunction with blazing guitar, bass grooves and vocal harmonies give the band a rich sound despite being a 2 piece band.
In April 2019, the band released their full-length studio debut album, ‘Rolling Backwards’. It is currently available on all streaming platforms and as a CD The recording made use of real recorded drums rather than the electric foot drums used live. Almost every instrument part is played by Caelan who also produced and mixed the album himself. Demo versions of ‘Rolling backwards’ and ‘Losing Time’ from the album album reached the final 10 for the 2017 Songsalive Australian Song Writing Competition in both the Rock and Youth categories.
The band has been playing around Sydney for the last four years and have played at venues such as the Sydney Metro Theatre and Factory Theatre. Pre-release versions of 2 tracks, “Rolling Backwards” and “Losing Time” from their album reached the final 10 of the Songsalive Australian song writing competition in 2018 in both the Rock and Youth categories. Blue Rock reached the semi finals of the Emergenza and Youthrock Band competitions and have twice closed out the Spring Sounds on the Platform festival at North Sydney. In January 2020, the band traveled to Memphis Tennessee to play in Jerry Lee Lewis’ bar as part of the International Blues Competition Youth Showcase.
Starting from March 2020, with gigs canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Caelan has returned to his home studio to work on new music.

“Really strong lyrics reflective of our current climate, in Rolling Backwards the funky blues tone and the lyrics is quite cathartic. Really amazing being a two man band really shows how skilled you guys are and fun on stage.
You have knowledge in some classic music and it shows with … being able to have the audience interact with you in the song Waiting shows your ability to be able to communicate the band with the audience and shows your ability as a musician“
Georgia Williamson, 2019 YouthRock judge.
“Vocals, Guitar and Drums all well performed. Solid bass and good backing vox too. Sense of fun well communicated. Good audience involvement.“

“Incredible guitar skills and to be able to play drum pedals at the same time is really impressive. Caelan has the guitar skill of a seasoned musician.”
“Really fantastic songs, and phenomenal musicianship. Caelan in particular is exceptionally talented. Singing, playing guitar and drum pedals is not easy and you pulled it off. Good arrangements and interesting lyrics…. solid sound and pedals fused well with the bluesy gritty songs.”
“Each song was quite different from the other, and had really interesting lyrics. They were very dynamic with interesting transitions mid song. Was great to see both acoustic and guitar based songs as well, and both really worked. Really represented the blues genre fantastically.”
Rebecca Ware, Youthrock band competition 2018 judge
I found the music catchy, energetic, melodic and diverse with a vintage soulful classic rock bluesy vibe, lots of character and spirit within the song structures, the musicianship is thrilling throughout the album, I think the band sound great and you have made a fun diverse record …
I can’t fault the album at all, lots of swagger.
